BUILDING PARTI
This project examined core architectural principles outlined in Francis D. K. Ching’s Architecture: Form, Space, & Order, including spatial relationships, organization, circulation, and structure, as the basis for developing a building design. Early sketch iterations employed nine-square diagrams with varying layout “rules” to generate preliminary concepts.
As the design evolved, three-dimensional diagrams were developed, inspired by the idea of geodes emerging from the ground as if being excavated. This concept ultimately informed the design of a gallery and museum in Washington, DC.
The final building was presented on a poster documenting the design process, conceptual development, and formal inspiration.
