The 2023 Washington Performing Arts Gala celebrated the contributions and artistic partnerships WPA shares with creators from around the world. The event spotlighted artists bringing bold, imaginative programming to the DC area—work rooted in cultural identity, personal vision and a distinctive creative voice—inviting guests to connect, engage and step into a kaleidoscope of global artistry.

Visually, the branding drew inspiration in part from Putting on the Ritz by Hector J. Torres, a longtime supporter and former WPA board member.

A custom, accordion-fold, laser-cut invitation introduced the concept through layered forms inspired by the angles and circles of a kaleidoscope—echoing music, movement and the multidimensional nature of the performing arts. Those layered elements became the foundation of the event identity across print and digital collateral, and extended into the environment through the stage set design and environmental graphics.
